AISNSW Wingara Education Conference

Weaving Knowledge of Country through the Curriculum

Leading and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander curriculum and reconciliation is not only the responsibility of Aboriginal staff and community. As we have heard many times before – Aboriginal Education is everybody’s business. However, many non-Aboriginal teachers and school leaders feel under prepared for this level of engagement.

Join us for the 2024 AISNSW Wingara Education Conference: Weaving Knowledge of Country through the Curriculum to gain insights, knowledge, and skills, along with being challenged to learn how you can further develop your culturally responsiveness to lift Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander curriculum and partnerships across your school community.

This professional learning experience meets the criteria for NESA Accredited PD in the Priority Area of Aboriginal Education and supporting Aboriginal students/children and is subsidised through the Australian Independent Schools Fund.

Keynote Speaker: Rachel Perkins

Rachel Perkins is a proud Arrente and Kalkadoon woman, with German and Irish heritage, and is one of Australia’s most significant filmmakers. Through her career, spanning over 30 years, Rachel has become an educator, leader and mentor. Her on-screen storytelling takes us on an essential learning journey of shared histories and perspectives, that we are often denied in the classroom.
